Topic Duo: Natural Desires and Meditating On The Word

In this post, I just wanted to touch on a couple of topics quickly.  I heard this quote today that was really good, I felt I should share it.  It really fits in with what we’ve been discussing on this blog.  It especially goes with this post here.  In that post, I talked about fasting as a means to overcome distractions and lusts.  Fasting really is the best way to deal with, learn to control and overcome the flesh.  So, without further ado, here’s the quote:

4 Steps To Victory Over Worry: The Big Distraction II

In the previous post, I began talking about the freedom that we can experience in Christ of a carefree, worry-free life.  Jesus said, “my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”  We don’t have to be overloaded with worry and care.  We don’t have to be stressed out with trying to figure out what we are going to do to get out of the situations we are in.  We simply turn the care of the situation over to Jesus (because He cares for us) then listen to His voice and obey Him.  Paul talked about not having any care or worry also in Philippians 4:6-8.

Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.  Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.     GOD’S WORD Translation

I also gave the first two steps that Paul outlines:

1. Be careful for nothing.  Refuse the burden of responsibility.

2. Let your requests be made known to God in thanksgiving.
