We recognize the manifest Presence of Jesus just as we do the presence of a friend or family member. Jesus is a real person who can walk in the room where we are. We must learn to invite Him in and create an atmosphere where He likes to be.

Love Came Down: A Song Of The Bride

If you are religious– you’ll have a difficult time with this. Just warning you. It’s intimate.

The chorus is a song of the Bride:

Love came down and rescued me.

Love came down and set me free.

I am Yours. I am forever Yours.

Mountain high or valley low

I sing out and remind my soul

That I am Yours. I am forever Yours.

Religious Test #2: Are You Religious?

Are you religious? We’ll find out. If you have a difficult time moving more than your foot in praising Jesus for what He has done for you, there is a strong possibility you are religious.

Note: This video and post in no way implies support of any particular ministry but simply is a tool exemplifying people radically and freely praising Jesus.

What Is Your Soul Doing?

Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.  Psalm 33:20  (KJV)

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:23, we are three part beings. We are a spirit- we are made in God’s image and He is a spirit (Gen 1:26, John 4:24). We have a soul- mind, will and emotions that will go with us into eternity (Luke 16:19-31). We live in a body- our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We are not our bodies, these are simply the homes that we live in. We are not our minds or emotions, these are part of the soul. We are made in God’s image- we are like Him- we are a spirit.

When we are born again, we (spirit) is regenerated. We are made new.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17  (KJV)

We are born again but our soul is not. This is an area that we (spirit) must control. This is why people struggle with thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God and emotions that don’t line up with godly emotions. This is even why there are times that God wants us to do something and we don’t really want to (will). This whole arena can be so busy and distracted from God that it is hard for you (spirit) to hear God.

There are so many things that can keep our souls distracted and our spirits cluttered. If your soul is distracted you will have a difficult time hearing from God. Many people wonder why God isn’t moving in their life. They wonder why they aren’t seeing the results in their life that they see in the Word. I’ll let you in on a secret that God spoke to me:

The kingdom where your soul resides is the kingdom you will experience.

People are locked into the news an hour or two a day. Gossiping at work and talking bad about their neighbors and politicians. They are angry at the person that just cut them off in traffic on the way home and they watch everything that the world watches on TV. They get emails every 15 minutes on their phone in between the calls and texts. They peruse the internet for an hour a day wasting time looking at nothing usually called facebook. And they spend 15 minutes a day reading a devotion that has one Bible verse in it and the rest is all someone else’s opinion.

Their soul is all locked up. They are distracted to the max. How do I know this? Because I’ve done it. I’ve lived it. It is common among the body of Christ. You get together for “fellowship” with other believers and not one time do you discuss the Word of God. You talk about your job and what your kids are doing, how life in general is going but nothing about God.

Fiery, passionate, hungry people can’t help but talk about Jesus. They are in love. Just as a newlywed talks about her new husband longingly and lovingly, we need to talk of Him. You can keep that passion for Jesus your entire life but it must be purposeful.

One of the keys to getting passionate and staying passionate for Jesus is making your soul wait on the Lord. Make your mind focus on Him. Make your emotions sit down and be still. Quiet yourself in His presence and wait longingly and lovingly on Him.

Religious Test #1: Are You Religious?

Are you religious? Do you get offended if things don’t fit into your boxed view of God? We’ll find out.

Listen to this (lyrics posted below).

Verse 1

There is a place that I need.

You said that I could come.

Here I find your Son.

In the blood of the Son to the throne.

I won’t be held to what I know.

To the heart of my God, I want to go.

In the arms of my Christ, I want to be.

The voice of my God, I want to hear.

Intimacy. Intimacy.

Verse 2

There is a love so deep

That brought us back from death.

We were drowning in our sins.

Through the life of your Son and from the throne.

Your eyes are on my heart

And I come with all surrender.

Your song surrounds my soul

And I come with all surrender.

Your love has captured me

And I come with all surrender.

Your power has filled my life

And I come with all surrender.

Normal Just Means Mediocre

There was a couple, I’ll call them the Johnson’s, who lived a normal life.  They had normal jobs. They worked the normal hours–9 to 5, Monday through Friday, 50 weeks of the year.

After their normal jobs were done, they each drove their normal cars to their normal house on a normal street. They had the normal house–3 bedroom, 2 bathroom–that everyone else had. They had the normal 2.5 children (the half was a little less than normal, but you get the drift). They had the normal church and the normal friends. They were, in a word… normal.

Normally, they would get done with their normal dinner and have normal family time. When their normal 2.5 children went to bed, the Johnson’s would sit down to a normal night in front of the TV. On the weekends they would go out and visit their normal friends and go to their normal church on Sundays. Then… Monday they were in their normal routine again. That’s My King!

A little afternoon pick-me-up.

If this doesn’t make you want to worship and praise God and run around the room shouting His name, there is a high probability that you aren’t passionately in love with Jesus.
